Northside Animal Hospital -- Veterinary Emergency Services -- Black Forest Farm

Northside Animal Hospital

Northside Animal Hospital is a Madison veterinary clinic that serves the medical needs of Madison Mutts' homeless pets. Many of our adopters and foster homes also use them as our private vets, because they offer positive, personal services with a veterinary team that shares our concern for animal well-being. Offsite, clients can find a lot of extra support on their website, including a virtual tour of their facilities, hundreds of articles and video clips on pet health topics, and pages for owners to post memorials to their pets.

Veterinary Emergency Services

Veterinary Emergency Services provides state of the art emergency veterinary care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at locations on Madison's east side and in Middleton. In addition to emergency services for accidents, poisoning, or other emergency injuries, the clinics provide specialty care, surgery, and pharaceuticals not available at many ordinary local veterinary practices. Their website provides pet care tips and more details on their services and facilities.

Black Forest Farm

Give your dog a vacation while you are away. Black Forest Farm, 30 miles west of Madison, is a doggy nirvana, operated by a Madison Mutts volunteer and foster parent, Marlene. Marlene has already gotten many of the dogs she fostered back for pet sitting! Your dog will enjoy being able to run loose (assuming he/she is OK off leash) on the 54 acre horse farm complete with peacocks, wooded trails and luxurious accommodations in her spacious home. Dogs stay in the house and often in the same bedroom as Marlene's personal dogs. Families like that their dogs are in a home setting, with people to give them attention and other dogs to play with. There are plenty of friends to play with; however, dogs can be separated in smaller groups if needed.

Marlene offers her services for a special discounted rate of only $10/night to Madison Mutts adopters and foster homes. If your dog is crated trained, bringing your crate is best. Bringing your own dog food is greatly appreciated. All dogs must be good around other animals. Marlene has cats, birds, a rabbit and horses. Other pets may be considered for sitting services on an individual basis. Marlene has a ballroom dance business in Madison and can arrange drop off and pick up of your dog at her studio off Fish Hatchery Road as long as the dog does not interfere with her lessons. She is in Madison Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday late afternoons and evenings. Call 608-270-1550 for more information or to schedule your doggie get away!

"Marlene really helped us out of a jam recently when my mother-in-law visited. Her bouncy new puppy (Elsa) wasn't getting along with our quiet old lab. At first we didn't want to "kennel" her, but Black Forest Farm is like summer camp for dogs. We are lucky we could get her to go home! She had a fabulous time playing with the other dogs on the farm, and we had peace and quiet for our visit. We highly recommend Black Forest Farm." -Caitlin and Brian
